Wings of Asia Aviary
Miami, FL
As one of the largest aviaries in the world, this multi-species exhibit houses numerous birds, reptiles, and fish.
Three water features are supported by two Life Support Systems. Tieing into the created environment, the life support systems are relatively efficient in their usage of energy and water. Generously sized planted bog areas help achieve the overall efficiency.
The system is very efficient with regard to energy consumption, backwash waste, equipment space, and overall costs. The water usage efficiency of this design is sensitive to the ecological concerns in South Florida regarding water shortage crises.
The Life Support System integrates natural processes with filtration equipment to meet the heavy nutrient load provided by a large bird population. As a multi species exhibit, the water features support fish, reptiles, and birds.
